Diary of a loser
Luciana Berger MP, Shadow Minister for Public Health, commenting on new research showing deprivation could be responsible for around 450 breast cancer deaths in England every year, said:
“This research is further evidence that early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer saves lives. The sooner you spot the signs of cancer the more likely treatment is to be successful.
"But it also proves why heavy consideration must still be given to deprivation when looking at an area’s NHS funding. Plans under consideration by Ministers will remove the weighting given to deprivation.
"The move would raid NHS funding of communities with the poorest health to give it to more affluent areas where life expectancy is already the longest. Labour will lead a national campaign to oppose it and force a vote in Parliament later in the year.”
